口语集训营-KooTalk把英语说得更酷-Gotta

I gotta + (动词) 表示“我得/我必须…”

Gotta 是单词吗?其实不是,I gotta 是 I have got to 或者 I’ve got to 的口语话缩写,请勿用于书面场合,仅适合口语使用。它来自于语音的连读和浊化,下面我们就来看看怎么表达我必须做某事。

‘I gotta’ is grammatically incorrect. It is more of a spoken form. If you want to say this with proper grammar, the equivalent would be, ‘I have got to’ or ‘I’ve got to’. In the spoken form, ‘got to’ is shortened to ‘gotta’ and the word ‘have’ is dropped.

Here are some examples:

“I gotta manage my money理财.”
“I gotta obey the laws守法.”
“I gotta move to a bigger house.”
“I gotta impress(impress sombody 给某人留下好印象) my boss.”
“I gotta brush my teeth刷牙.”

By adding the word ‘have’ you can change what you are saying to express something that needs to be done in the near future.如果加上I have或I’ve(即不省略Have) 则更倾向于表示近期将来必须要做的事情。

Here are some examples:

“I have got to be on time to work.”
“I’ve gotta try harder at school.”
“I’ve gotta tell my wife I’ll be late.”
“I’ve gotta learn more about the laws.”
“I’ve gotta clean my house today.”
